On behalf of a family who own 20 acres of equestrian farmland to the south-west of Ashford town centre, WGDP formulated a strategy for promoting its inclusion within the extension for the doubling of the town by 2021.
We appointed a senior QC to advise the family on the project and particularly the Council’s complex and changing Master Plan.
Ashford Borough Council moved quickly forward with their draft Core Strategy and this was considered at an Examination during the Summer of 2007.
Our strategy was to offer the Council two ways forward. First, to avoid a legal wrangle over their Core Strategy to revise their Master Plan. The second, was to revert to their original proposals to include our client’s land within the Chilmington Green Urban Quarter – forecast to accommodate c. 4,500 – 5,000 new homes.
The strategy included promoting the inclusion of the subject land by way of public exhibitions and the production of a short ‘informational’ film. Please contact us for a free DVD.
At the time of writing, the property is being promoted as part of the Chilmington Green Action Area Plan. The urban extension id due to commence at any moment.
WGDP are now involved with several Core Strategies throughout England.
